Data Centers: The Basics/Issues of An Expanding Asset Class

Data Centers: The Basics and
Issues of An Expanding Asset Class

Data centers are a relatively new type of asset class in real estate and to date there have been few owners, operators, investors, lenders, brokers and lawyers in this nascent industry. As data storage and processing needs grow and the large technology companies race to build the cloud, more and more data centers are being built and demand is outstripping growth. Returns on data centers are outpacing most other real estate classes so investors and lenders who have been on the sidelines are now starting to think about owning or lending on data centers. Hear from a panel of experts in the industry as to why this is no longer an outlier asset class, recent data center trends and industry forecasts, what makes a data center different from other types of real estate classes, and the unique risks of being a lender on data centers and how best to mitigate that risk.
